Shakiya Booker is a photographer and documentarian, born and raised in New York. In 2011, she received her first camera, a Nikon D3000, and has not stopped capturing moments since. 
Shakiya holds a dual Bachelor of Arts in International Studies and Africana & Latino Studies from SUNY Oneonta, a graduate certificate in Hospitality & Tourism from NYU, and a Master’s in Teaching from Relay Graduate School. With experience as a high school educator in Washington, DC, and Harlem, New York, Shakiya brings a unique perspective to her work, driven by her dedication to social impact.
Her photography is rooted in a commitment to highlight culture, celebrate resilience, and amplify underrepresented voices. She strives to create visuals that reflect the strength and unity within communities, telling stories that resonate and inspire. 
Currently based in Spain, Shakiya continues to make an impact through her lens, capturing powerful and meaningful narratives within her newfound home.
